TRUE LIFE ADVANCED COUNSELOR TRAINING

THE PURPOSE

   1.     To provide a more comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the exchanged-life truths as taught in the Scriptures. The exchanged-life is defined as:

  The understanding that Jesus Christ came to save us from ourselves, empowering us to surrender our self-centered, self-sufficient life for a Christ-centered life, experiencing the real presence of Jesus Christ in all we are and all we do;

   2.     To promote an increasing appropriation of these truths in order to produce a transformed character manifested in a daily walk in dependence on the indwelling Christ;

   3.     To equip each student with skills for living and communicating these truths in reliance on the power of the   Holy Spirit.

OBJECTIVES: Track 1 & Track 2

The student who has successfully completed Track 1 of this training program will be growing in the personal, experiential reality of living the exchanged-life, and will also be able to minister Christ’s life to people in need.  In doing so, the student will know how to:

   1.        Listen to a person empathetically;

   2.        Learn a person’s “life story” (social history) and relate it to the spiritual and relational issues in their life;

   3.        Share the basic exchanged-life material in a personal, appropriate, and effective manner;

   4.        Apply to areas of need, the exchanged-life truths which cover spiritual and relational topics such as: acceptance in the beloved, concept of God, forgiveness, the believer’s identity in Christ, tearing down       strongholds, generational bondages, communication and conflict resolution, abuse issues, addictions recovery, emotional trauma, etc.

             Students who choose Track 2 will achieve the same objectives in learning to experience and share the truths of the exchanged life, but will not participate in the co-counseling, personal counseling, or two of the classes offered (see course description below).  Track 2 is dedicated to personal growth and supplying the individual with helps to share what they have learned through their testimony.

PREREQUISITES

               1.  The R n R 6 week course:  This course is content-oriented and includes:

God’s Covenant With Humanity,

God’s Covenant With Me,

Challenging Your Personal View of God,

Leaving The Past In The Past,

Understanding Your True Identity In Christ, and

Practical Application Of Covenant Living.

   2.  The R n R Saturday: The R n R Saturday is “experience” oriented and includes:

Grasping the experiential reality of what it means to be “in” Christ,

Identifying and understanding of our personality type and spiritual gifts and the way the Holy Spirit works through both in tandem,  and

Discovering true intimacy with Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

3.  The application process for the True Life Advanced Counselor Training Program which includes:

Application form,

Three reference forms,

One personal measurement instrument, and 

A non-refundable application fee of $35.

TRUE LIFE ADVANCED COUNSELOR TRAINING:

TRACK 1

Track 1 is formalized training of individuals who are interested in counseling and/or discipling people in need on a deeper level than can be provided by the R n R 6 week course or the R n R Saturday Retreat.

COURSE CONTENT, TRACK 1:

30 hours of classroom instruction,

25 hours of co-counseling:

     9 hours through video viewing,

     16 hours of on-site co-counseling with a staff counselor and their clients,

7 hours of personal counseling,

required reading of 10 books and 6 booklets,

17 hours of required video/DVD teaching,

6 required audio tapes/CDs.

TIME COMMITMENT: TRACK 1

R n R 6 Week Course: 1 night a week for 6 weeks.  These classes are held quarterly and may be taken at any time prior to entering the advanced training program.

R n R Saturday Retreat: 1 Saturday, 8 a.m. to approximately 9 p.m.  This retreat will be held three times a year and may be attended any time prior to entering the advanced training program.

The True Life Advanced Counselor Training classroom instruction will be held the second Saturday of the month, January through June, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the TLC offices.  Please bring a brown bag lunch.

On-site co-counseling and personal counseling is scheduled, as much as possible, to accommodate the individual’s schedule on a first-come, first-served basis.

All the reading, viewing and listening of teaching materials are done at your own pace, in your home.

TRACK 2:

Track 2 is training of individuals who are interested in deeper personal growth and mentoring of individuals in need on a deeper level than can be provided by the R n R 6 week course or the R n R Saturday Retreat.

COURSE CONTENT, TRACK 2:

26 hours of classroom instruction,

required reading of 10 books and 6 booklets,

17 hours of required video/DVD teaching,

6 required audio tapes/CDs.

R n R 6 Week Course: 1 night a week for 6 weeks.  These classes are held quarterly and may be taken at any time prior to entering the advanced training program.

R n R Saturday : 1 Saturday, 8 a.m. to approximately 9 p.m.  This retreat will be held three times a year and may be attended any time prior to entering the advanced training program.

The True Life Advanced Counselor Training classroom instruction will be held the second Saturday of the month, January through June, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the TLC offices.  Please bring a brown bag lunch.

LIBRARY

You will find at True Life Counseling, Inc. one copy of each of the required books, audio tapes, and video tapes for the course.  It is recommended that each student purchase a personal copy of the required books so that they can be marked for personal profit and referred to in ministering to others.  If possible, we highly recommend that the student read all of the required books before starting training if time permits.

DEVELOPMENT:

This course of training was started over twenty years ago.  Through the years it has been consistently evaluated, changed and refined.  This development has resulted in a program of ministerial training which is viable, vibrant, and valuable, spiritually and personally, as well as academically.  This training is taught worldwide and has been proven to effectively cross economic, social, cultural and denominational bounds, bringing freedom to any who choose to embrace their true identity in Jesus Christ.  The message taught in the R n R 6 week course. R n R Saturday Retreat and Advanced Training Program is summed up in a quote from the book, Classic Christianity, by Bob George.  In it he states,

“God gave His life for us,

so that He could give His life to us,

so that He could live His life through us.”

ACADEMIC CREDIT

Many students have received academic credit for their participation in the True Life Advanced Counselor Training Program.  The type and amount of credit will vary from school to school.  It is the responsibility of the student to contact their institution of choice and ascertain what information they require in order to petition for credit.  The Director of Training will be happy to assist you in acquiring the needed information.

CERTIFICATION

The True Life Advanced Counselor Training Course offered by True Life Counseling, Inc. is recognized by all members of the International Association of Exchanged Life Ministries. 

Completion of this training program does not imply certification, accreditation, licensing, or approval by True Life Counseling, Inc., or the International Association of Exchanged Life Ministries. 

No state recognizes, the training offered by True Life Counseling, Inc.. The True Life Advanced Counselor Training Program will not meet the requirements of any State or Board of Regulatory Professional Certification or Licensing.  It should not be understood as permission to represent oneself as a counselor, therapist, or any other designation of one involved in mental health or related fields.
